Guide Shaker Style Cabinets for Kitchen


Building the Case

Measure the shaker style cabinets clearance to determine its overall size. Cut with a saw two pieces of plywood 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) as measured by the height and width.

Make sure the bottom part of your cabinet is 2 inches (5 cm) above the bottom edge of the side pieces to accommodate the front frame.

Adding the front Frame

Cut four pieces of hardwood 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) with the saw. Define what will be the front of your shaker style cabinets and joins two pieces of hard wood along the left and right of the front of the cabinet sides with glue and screws.

Cut the other two pieces to fit between the rungs. Connect the rails to the cabinet with glue and screws.

Measure and cut a piece of 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) plywood for the back. Glue it in place.

Making a Shaker style door

Measure the vertical and horizontal opening between the rungs and rails. Add 1 inch (2.54 cm) to that measurement.

Cut two pieces of hard wood 2 inches (5 cm) wide vertical extent. These are the steps from your door.

Subtract 4 inches (10 cm) to the horizontal and cut two pieces of hard wood 2 inches (5 cm) of that size measure. Plywood cut 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) to be placed on the steps and the rail opening.

Assemble the door and glue.  Shaker style cabinets door hinges.
